Event Details

Join the New Hampshire Writers' Project and the Center for the Book as we celebrate the literary talent of the Granite state with the 2009 New Hampshire LIterary Awards. Make a day of it--hone your craft with one of our specially priced workshops and next time, the winner could be you!

This year's winners are:

  • Outstanding Book of Fiction: James Patrick Kelly, The Wreck of the Godspeed
  • Outstanding Book of Nonfiction: Mimi Schwartz, Good Neighbors, Bad Times
  • Outstanding Work of Children’s Literature: Lita Judge, Pennies for Elephants and Joseph Monninger, Hippie Chick
  • The Jane Kenyon Award for Outstanding Book of Poetry: Mimi White, The Last Island
  • Donald M. Murray Outstanding Journalism Award: John Walters, Collection of articles from Kearsarge Magazine and Upper Valley Life
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: David Carroll

All Workshops run from 3:00 p.m. and end by 5:30 p.m. Reception starts at 5:30 p.m. with wine and snacks. Ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Following the ceremony, there will be dessert, book sales, and signings by the award winners and nominees.
